There are so many fun activities in Seattle for adults, you definitely won’t be disappointed. Whether you are looking for the best breweries, bars, seafood, coffee, tours, and more — we have you covered.

We spent our trip to Seattle thoroughly exploring every corner to give you the top things to do, see, and eat while you’re there. Seattle has so many fun activities for adults, so we hope you enjoy your time in Seattle as much as we did!

Go Bar & Brewery Hopping in Seattle

Seattle is a great place to enjoy a good beer (or cocktail) hop. The city has a booming beer scene and the bars have an array of creative cocktails to try too. If you want to try beers and drinks that are outside the box, Seattle is a great place to do that. This is definitely one of Seattle’s top fun activities for adults.

If you truly want to beer hop, Ballard is the neighborhood you want to get over to. For cocktails, downtown Seattle is the place to be.

Top Breweries and Bars:

  • Fair Isle Brewing – This brewery is known for only brewing “wild” beers. This includes saisons and farmhouse ales, which they use wild yeasts from the northeast to create.
  • Stoup BrewingCreated by a couple curious scientists, the brewery is it’s own kind of experiment. You cannot go wrong with any of the concoctions they’ve brewed up here
  • Reuben’s BrewsThis has to be one of the most popular brewery hopping stops, so get there early to get a stop on their patio!
  • The Hideout – This funky bar is a bit beyond the downtown scene, but worth the visit. With quirky contemporary art and equally creative cocktails, you’ll realize you’ve stumbled upon a hidden gem of Seattle.
  • Bathtub Gin – Don’t let the name fool you, the drinks at this Seattle speakeasy are delicious, and the old prohibition style decor is top notch too. Located in the old boiler room of a hotel, you will need to enter from the back alley way.

Eat Seattle’s Best Fresh Caught Seafood

Seattle is known for it’s seafood, so don’t miss the opportunity to try it out! If you’re up early enough, you’re likely to see the boats as they come back with the fresh catches. Pike’s Place Fish Market is also a prime location to watch them famously toss their fresh fish to the counter for display, or back out to the customer after purchase. But it’s not just fish, you’ll encounter a whole array of fresh caught seafood at these top spots.

Favorite Seafood Spots in Seattle:

  • Pike Place Chowder – This is must-stop for any foodie in Seattle. They are a world-renowned clam chowder award winner, with lines out the door an hour before opening to prove it. There are so many chowder types to choose from, but honestly, the classic style was my favorite.
  • Sushi Kashiba – Being the best sushi restaurant in the city, with the highest standards for the fish they serve, you will want to get a reservation here. However, with only 14 spots in the whole restaurant, it is notoriously difficult to get in.
  • Matt’s in the Market – Located in Pikes Place, this makes for a convenient and tasty lunch stop! They are famous for their seasonal Fishwich, which serves up a grilled fillet of a fresh caught fish on a tasty brioche bun.

Indulge in the Seattle Craft Coffees Scene

Seattle is the epicenter for coffee worldwide. Not only does Seattle consume more coffee per capita than any other city in America, but it also is home to some of the world’s top roasters and coffee crafters. Coffee connoisseurs and enthusiasts flock to Seattle, and you’ll understand why once you’ve tried some.

Top Coffee Stops in Seattle:

  • Starbucks Roastery – I had to add this one, just because Seattle is the home of the very first Starbucks. But please notice I am not recommending to go stand in a long line for a normal cup of coffee at the first Starbucks location. Instead, visit the Starbucks Roastery for a better atmosphere and coffee options.
  • Ghost Alley Espresso – This walk-up tiny coffee shop is located in the alley between Pike Place and the Gum Wall. They have the classic coffees, as well as unique flavors. I tried an espresso with earl grey tea combo, and was shockingly in love.
  • Anchorhead Coffee Co. – There are multiple locations throughout Seattle, and for good reason, their coffee is delicious. I am still having dreams about my Honey Bunches of Cold Brew coffee.
  • Storyville Coffee Company – This has to be the coolest coffee shop. If you want a place that has great coffee and a fun place to hang out, work, or catch up with friends, this is the ideal spot.
  • Cherry Street Coffee House – Now I didn’t realize that this indie coffee house had nine locations throughout Seattle when I visited, but I get why. The coffee selection was expansive, and so was their tasty food options.

Take a Unique Tour of Seattle

Seattle is a fun and unique city, and so are their tours. There really are options for everyone, but what I’ve learned firsthand is that you need to book most of these early. So if a tour catches your eye, make sure to reserve your spot as soon as possible.

Fun Tours in Seattle:

  • Beneath The Streets Underground History Tour – This tour was so unique, I felt like I was on a private tour of Seattle’s secret passage ways. You are guided through a whole underground city and tunnels accessed behind discreet doors throughout the downtown. All the while learning about Seattle’s interesting history and staring up through the sidewalk. This is a Seattle must-do!
  • Chef Guided Food Tour of Pike Place Market – When you’re in Seattle, you owe it to yourself to make the most out of your visit to Pike Place, the iconic marketplace overlooking the ocean. During this 2-hour tour you will get to try nearly a dozen of the best and most sought after foods in the market with the guidance of a professional chef. And you get to skip the lines at each stall — that itself makes this tour worthwhile!

  • Seattle Harbor Cruise– Spend an hour out on the water soaking in the one-of-kind views of Seattle. This tour leaves conveniently from Pier 55 where you get to see one of the world’s largest shipping terminals. And in no time you will be enjoying a narrated tour of Seattle as you cruise across the harbor and take in views of Mt Rainier, and more.

Watch a Show or Performance in Seattle

Seattle has a wide array of performing arts and shows to entertain you. These shows are some of the top Seattle fun activities for adults. From ballet, to cabaret, to comedy clubs, you will have a lot of entertainment options to choose from on your trip.

  • Pacific Northwest Ballet – One of the top ballet companies in the world, the Pacific Northwest Ballet promises an unforgettable night out in Seattle Center’s McCaw Hall. If you come during the Winter, the Nutcracker is an impressive performance to attend.
  • Can Can Culinary CabaretIf you want a fun, exciting, and entertaining night, this is your place to go. The show is energetic and captivating all the way through. With this amazing show you can enjoy food and drinks, too. Although I opted for dinner out beforehand and just drinks at the show.

  • Club Comedy Seattle – A night out in Capitol Hill will definitely keep you young. This is where you’ll find most of the hottest new bars, restaurants, and and apparently stand up comedians! It’s a good size club, and they keep their calendar full of events, so you can go just about any night for a good laugh.

Is Seattle CityPASS Worth It?

Speaking of fun activities in Seattle for adults, the follow-up question I always get is if the Seattle CityPASS is worth buying. And my answer is YES, if you plan properly it can help you see a lot of Seattle, and save you money. However, if you don’t really plan out your trip and only go to one or two of the attractions, you would be better to skip.

Here’s my Seattle CityPASS Itinerary to make the most out of your trip. The best part is you could technically fit in one day if you are quick!

  • Space Needle – takes approx. 2 hours
  • Then walk to Chihuly Garden & Glass – takes approx. 1 hour
  • Then walk to MoPOP Museum – takes approx. 2 hours

End the day here, or take the monorail or a cab over to the other side of town for these next two activities:

  • Take the monorail or cab to the Seattle Aquarium – takes approx. 2 hours to see the whole waterfront aquarium, and the monorail right is under 10 minutes.
  • Walk to the Argosy Cruises terminal – takes approx 1 hour for cruise and 7 minute walk from the aquarium.
